Grade 2+ Faith Formation is the second of two years of preparation for receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.
Students can join this class as early as 2nd grade if they have completed a class in 1st grade (either the family program or the online homeschool course), or a grade 1 class at another parish. Older students (grades 3 & 4) are welcome to join this class if they need to prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion and have completed a prior year of class.
If your 2nd grade student did not complete a class in 1st grade, they will need to do a year of class in 2nd grade (either the family program or the online homeschool course) prior to entering the Communion prep class in 3rd grade. Please email the director (Brenda) at [email protected]) to discuss which option is best.
If you have a student in grades 3 - 5 and up who needs First Communion prep and has not attended a prior year of class, please email the director to inquire about class placement ([email protected]). We will work with you individually to determine what is best for your child and your family.
Students in this class will be prepared to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the winter, and the Sacrament of Holy Communion in the late spring. Classes meet approximately twice a month in the classrooms. Parents do not regularly attend classes, though parents are invited sit in at any time. Contact the director if you'd like to sit in on a class.
As an important part of their program for the year, students will also be attending Mass with a parent and completing a Mass worksheet once or twice a month (specific dates are on the schedule).

Class Options for 2025 - 2026 for Grade 2+
This year, we have two options for Grade 2+ classes. All Grade 2+ classes will meet on-site in our classrooms with catechist(s).
Option 1: On-site classes + class Masses, will meet Sundays from 9 - 10 am in the classrooms or church
Option 2: On-site classes + class Masses, classes will meet Wednesdays from 3:30 - 4:45 pm, Masses are Sundays 9 - 10 am
Please note that these classes have been scheduled at the same time as the Family session for grades 1, 3 - 5. This
would allow a parent to attend the family session with a sibling while the grade 2+ student attends his/her class. Most of the spots for the Wed Grade 2+ classes will be reserved for families with a sibling attending the Family Program. If a waitlist forms for this class, preference will be given to families with a sibling in the Family Program.
Please note that Option 2 (Wednesday) is currently full. Option 1 Sunday is still open. If you would like to put your child on the waitlist for Wednesday classes, please register for Sunday and email the FF Director (Brenda, [email protected]). Priority on the waitlist will be given to families also registering a sibling (gr 1, 3, 4, or 5) for the Family Program session that meets at the same time (Wed 3:30 pm). Thank you for understanding!

Safety Considerations for On-site Classes
Anyone who is sick should stay home and email for make-up work. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding.
Please Note: There is a short video that goes with each lesson in the Signs of Grace texts. The students will be viewing these in class, but you can also find the videos to watch at home on www.formed.org. See our homepage for instructions on how to sign-up for a free account on FORMED. FORMED also has a lot of great Catholic content for children, including the Brother Francis videos that are wonderful for students preparing for First Reconciliation and First Communion.
